Starting in 1990
Inititially there were two companies, both having a CAD product as well as one for the management and control of the relative data. Each of them was really top relatively to one aspect of the data management tool, which made them strategic partners for a future combination.

The two companies founded a common doughter, owned 50% by each parent company, with the mission of creating a datamanagement tool merging the qualities of both predecessor tools. The new company was:
located in Arden Hills (near Minneapolis/St-Paul), Minnesota
Goal: bringing an absolute top product to the market place.
From both companies the top developers and know-how persons were put together into the new company to create from scratch a new system in modern high tech architecture. Under the direction of the visionary Jim Heppelman the "PDM" (Product Data Management) system «Metaphase 2» came out with exciting facts.

In summer 1994 the first relase was issued under the name of «Metaphase 2».
