From both com­pa­nies the top de­ve­lo­pers and know-how per­sons we­re put to­ge­ther in­to the new com­pa­ny to crea­te from scratch a new sys­tem in mo­dern high tech ar­chi­tec­tu­re. Un­der the di­rec­tion of the vi­sio­na­ry Jim Hep­pel­man the "PDM" (Pro­duct Da­ta Ma­na­ge­ment) sys­tem «Meta­phase 2» ca­me out with ex­ci­ting facts.

The new PDM-sys­tem was built on fol­lo­wing qua­li­ties:

• High per­for­ming ob­ject ori­en­ted sys­tem.
• Sta­bi­li­ty.
• 
  Sca­la­bi­li­ty.
• Dis­tri­bu­ted da­ta and da­ta­ba­ses, with­out in­con­sis­ten­cies.
• 
  Sim­ple and cen­tra­li­zed con­fi­gu­ra­tion.
• Dis­tri­bu­ted ser­vi­ces and pro­ces­ses over any num­ber of hosts in any num­ber of lo­ca­tions.
• Com­mu­ni­ca­tion bet­ween ser­vers as well as bet­ween ser­vers and clients by "Re­mo­te Pro­ce­du­re Calls".
• Un­der­lay­ing re­la­tio­nal da­ta­ba­ses of four dif­fe­rent brands (to­day re­du­ced to Ora­cle and MS-SQL).
• Run­ning on all ma­jor ope­ra­ting sys­tems (even he­te­ro­ge­nous ones, over ti­me adap­ted to ne­wer usa­ges).
• Re­lea­se re­sis­tent lo­cal cu­sto­mi­za­tion by cu­sto­mers.
• 
  Mul­tip­le na­tio­nal lan­gua­ges sup­port (ini­tial­ly de­li­ve­red in Eng­lish, French and Ger­man; lo­cal­ly ex­ten­si­ble by own lan­gua­ge fi­les (texts on­ly); ac­tu­al­ly about a do­zen lan­gua­ges, among them Chi­ne­se, Ja­pa­ne­se, Ko­rean).

In sum­mer 1994 the first re­la­se was is­sued un­der the na­me of «Me­ta­pha­se 2».
